Clean and cook the dal in 3 cups of water. Soak the tamarind in ½ cup of water and keep it aside.
Cook the vegetables in 2 cups of water with green chillies and salt
When the vegetables are cooked, mix it with the dal.
In a pan heat 2 tsp oil and add mustard, dry red chillies and curry leaves. Add the finely sliced large onion and sauté till it is transparent. Add the chilliy powder, sambar powder and stir.
Now add the tamarind water and bring it to boil. Add the dal and vegetable mix and stir well.
Add the asafetida powder and coriander leaves. On simmering remove it from flame. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves. |
